About Vision Industries Corp
Vision is a developer of zero emission hydrogen fuel cell/electric powered vehicles and will be providing fueling solutions by
building, owning and operating hydrogen fueling stations. Vision's proprietary
hydrogen fuel cell / electric drive system combines the superior
acceleration of a battery powered electric vehicle with the extended range provided
by a hydrogen fuel cell. Vision is the creator of the TyranoTM,
the world's first hybrid electric/hydrogen fuel cell-powered heavy duty class
8 truck, featuring: zero emissions, reduced operating cost and superior
performance. Vision is also in prototype development of the CheetahTM, which is intended to be the world's first hydrogen fuel cell/ plug-in
electric-powered supercar, featuring: zero emissions, accelerating 0 to 60 MPH faster than
production Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches and the battery powered Tesla
Competitive Advantage
The Vision heavy-duty class trucks are substantially less expensive to operate on a per mile basis than diesel and natural gas powered trucks, the cost savings on a per mile basis versus diesel and natural gas, is expect to range from 35% to 65%.Our Vision hydrogen/electric drive system has approximately 400 HP and 3,200 ft/lb of torque available; almost double the pulling power of a conventional diesel truck.
Target Market
Due to the ports of Los Angles and Long Beach's Clean Truck Program that offers cash incentives for the replacement of older dirty diesel trucks and the proximity and availability of low cost hydrogen, Vision is targeting truck fleet operators that haul goods from the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles for the initial sales of our zero emission trucks. Based on discussion with the Ports we anticipate sizable buying incentives to be applied against Vision's truck's MSRP. Additionally a federal tax credit of $40,000 is currently available to further incentives the purchase of our truck. Based on our trucks zero emissions and their operating efficiencies, we believe, that we offer a compelling solution for the Port's Clean Air Program's intent of reducing air pollution by replacing or retrofitting about 16,800 trucks by 2012 with clean trucks, such as 2007 or newer diesel trucks, trucks fueled by liquefied natural gas (LNG) or other approved technologies that can achieve the 2007 standard adopted in the port's Clean Air Action Plan, intended to reduce port related truck emissions by 80%.
Current Production Status
We are currently conducting final testing with our test truck mule housed at Vision's El Segundo R&D facilities and we are currently accepting orders.Our proprietary fuel cell/electric powered drive systems will reach the market place through L.A. Freightliner and other truck dealerships. Freightliner will provide major assembly, marketing, certain warranty coverage and sales, with an expected combined production capacity of over 50 trucks per month. Suppliers of various components, e.g. fuel cells and electric motors will provide additional warranty coverage.
(Note: Vision uses major component suppliers and vehicle manufactures as partners or sub contractors to produce its vehicles. This business approach allows Vision to be capital efficient and avoids massive outlays of startup capital).
- About Hydrogen as a fuel: Hydrogen is the answer to our long-term clean energy demands. When produced with renewable resources, the resulting "Green" hydrogen is truly environmentally harmless and sustainable. Hydrogen is carbon free and is naturally the most abundant solution to our energy crisis. A hydrogen fuel cell converts 1 kg of hydrogen into approximately 19KW of electricity and all hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are electric powered.
- Battery vs. Hydrogen: Hydrogen is the most efficient energy storage medium on a pound for pound basis. The Cheetah Hydrogen drive system, containing 4.8 Kg of hydrogen, produces a usable 94KW of electricity and weighs approximately 410 lbs or 4.4 lbs per KW. The Tesla's 53KW battery pack weighs 992 lbs and releases a usable 45KW or 18.7 lbs per KW. To replace the Cheetah's 410 lb hydrogen drive system with equivalent energy batteries, the replacement battery pack would have to weigh 1,750 pounds! The weight savings translate into better performance and greater range.
